With peoples reluctance to accept subsidised Inspection Trips, many people think they have the perfect solution. After spending many hours surfing the internet, reading all the magazines, attending all the exhibitions, plus speaking to friends…many individuals feel they have become their own expert. From booking their flights online, to hiring the car at the airport, all they need to do is find their accommodation. This seems a sensible approach…but is it really!!

Landing in a foreign country can be a daunting experience for some people. The distances can be huge and finding all the best locations and best offers, can be virtually impossible…not to mention, the language difficulties and foreign customs!

It may come as a surprise, but some people doing it their way, have sometimes bought property with no building licence, no planning approval and on land only legally approved as grazing farmland!!

Even to this day, not all developments being promoted have all the necessary paperwork and permissions in place. Ask yourself,….. what is the investment potential in buying a “totally illegal development”…. ask some of those who have learnt from bitter experience, and then you will know!!

As time is normally limited on these impromptu self organised trips, invariably the individual returns to the UK having not bought,….to only return again in 6 or 12 months time to repeat the same exercise.
